So I walk into this party tonight at the big man's house and they're rockin Rhapsody as the party soundtrack. What were they listening to, you ask? I figured I'd just blog it and let you click and listen. From Michael Jackson to JJ Cale to Bill Withers to The Slip, but how do you end up at Billy Idol at 3am? Rhapsody...so many choices.

The March Jam Rock mix is out. Check it out in all it's digital glory, featuring tracks by new entrants Reid Genauer and The Assembly of Dust, Gov't Mule, and Guster, as well as old faves by Umphrey's McGee, Dexter Grove, Santana and moe. Do not miss the 24 minute "Eyesight To The Blind / Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?" live from 1974 by Eric Clapton and Santana. It's the sickest, no I really mean it this time! - TK

Zero 7 is back! When It Falls is as much of a chill-out staple as Zero 7's sumptuous debut, Simple Things. Both albums use exquisitely silky downtempo to create a cocoon of warmth and calm, with threads of psychedelia to keep it interesting. "Passing By" is the perfect accompaniment into the next life. - MQ

The Built to Spill album Keep It Like A Secret (1999) is an indie rock classic. Honestly, it's a complex studio masterpiece. Every song is catchy, from "The Plan" kicking it off, to "Sidewalk" to "Else" to "You Were Right" full of rock and roll cliches. Enough outta me already, give it a listen now. Also recommended by BTS are Live (2000), Ancient Melodies of the Future (2001) and Perfect From Now On (1997). Singing Sores do indeed make Perfect Swords. - JB

Good news, finally The White Stripes have approved their four album catalog for Rhapsody. Last year's smash Elephant (2003), White Blood Cells (2001), De Stijl (2000), and The White Stripes (1999). So raw, so real, so good. Dig in. - DK

Like Bill Frisell? You need to rock Dave Douglas's new album Strange Liberation. The album has Frisell on guitar, Chris Potter on tenor, who is emerging as the hottest tenor player in the country, Uri Caine on keys, James Genus on bass and Clarence Penn on kit, not to mention trumpet player Dave Douglas who many consider the most influential avant garde trumpet player of the last 20 years. The album is a sampling of different american jazz styles. Really beautiful stuff. - G$

I went to see Liz Phair at the Warfield for an upcoming review on JamBase (stay tuned...) She was, well, above "fair" but not exceptional. Who WAS exceptional was the first opening act, Rachael Yamagata. Check her out. Her vocal strength and range are heartwrenching. -SuperDee

Do you like Bowie? Roxy Music? I'm just now getting into this stuff, yes I missed the boat. If you're into those two artists though you need to check out Pulp's Different Class. Its Glamalicious. - G$

The sons of the DMB campus-rock explosion break out in a new direction, tilling rootsier ground than ever before. Powered by the boogie-ing classic rock of "Conquistador" and the acoustic beauty "Angela Dangerlove," Crimes of Passion is a record people who wrote the band off back in 1993 need to hear. - Mike M.

I heard that Cameron Crowe used to make a mix every month to save as the soundtrack of his life. I always tried to do this but it was just too time consuming. I realized that now with Rhapsody you can do this. Here are my first two mixes for 2004, check out January 2004 and February 2004, roughly a track a day for two months. Enjoy- GH
